Cordless garden tools have crossed from convenience to default. For retailers, that means the gas-powered wall is slowly becoming a specialty corner, not the hero display.

Brushless motors are the reason. They deliver gas-comparable torque on a 40V or 56V pack while staying quiet enough for early-morning use — a selling point that resonates in dense suburban markets with noise bylaws.

Battery ecosystem is the real story. Buyers who adopt one outdoor platform tend to consolidate: blower, trimmer, mower and snow shovel on the same pack. Stock the platform, not a pile of incompatible singles.

Attachments are gaining. A single power head with interchangeable trimmers, cultivators and edgers reduces shelf space and raises average ticket — and it reorders on batteries.

For 2025 assortments, lead with a 40V+ brushless hero kit and a bare-tool wall of attachments that share its pack. The mower is the halo; the bare tools are the margin.
